2010 is the 15th year of the Galway Early Music Festival and it continues to bring not only the best, but also the most exciting musical events to Galway.

From manic dances to ecstatic chants, this year’s Galway Early Music Festival, May 28-30, brings music and madness to Galway! The programme ranges from the dance epidemics of the Middle Ages, where entire communities of people would join hands, dance, leap, scream and shake for hours, to the madness of love, so beautifully expressed in renaissance vocal music, to the madness of the gambler who plays to his ruin, and finally to the ecstatic chant music of religious visionaries and mystics such as Hildegard von Bingen

Featuring the outstanding ensembles Ensemble eX (with Caitriona O’Leary, Steve Player, Francisco Turrisi and others), Quadrivium from Belgium, and Cantoral from U of L, the festival includes concerts, workshops, music in the museum, heritage tours of medieval Galway and free family events
