Sed Diabolus in invidia sua istud irrisit
As Hildegarde von Bingen in her liturgical drama Ordo Virtutum says: ‘but the devil, in his envy laughed at this, he left no work of God untouched’. In the face of darkness and torment, humankind looks to heaven’s light and praises the celestial protectors for their benevolence and help. But the fight between light and darkness, good and evil never ends.
This concert features two chant ensembles from the World Academy of Music and Dance in Limerick. The programme includes chant and polyphony from the 11th to the 13th century, sung by Cantoral under the artistic direction of Catherine Sergent, and Vox Prophetica, a student chant ensemble directed by Oscar Mascareñas.
